Job Description:
We are looking for a self-motivated and results-driven general manager to direct and manage our union’s activities and to develop and implement effective activity strategies and programs. Duties for the general manager will include allocating budget resources, formulating policies, coordinating activity operations, monitoring and motivating staff, managing operational costs, ensuring good customer service, improving administration processes, engaging with vendors, hiring and training employees, identifying business opportunities, and monitoring financial activities. Your entrepreneurial spirit and vision in directing activity functions will assist our union in maintaining relationships with clients, generating new business, increasing staff productivity, improving service, ensuring sustainability, and meeting Renewable Energy objectives.

The successful candidate for this role should possess excellent communication skills, superior knowledge of managerial functions, exceptional budgeting, and management skills, and strong leadership qualities. The noteworthy general manager should account for all activities, support staff development, enhance efficiency, improve revenue, maintain relationships with clients and NGOs, enhance the organization’s image, and meet overall growth objectives.

Main Responsibilities:

-Execute and implement the developed one year (1) Operational Plan indicating goals, objectives, approaches/strategies, priorities, actions/activities to be pursued, to direct AREU toward its objectives.
-Assist and facilitate the implementation of establishing a sustainable solar Market.
-Assist and support the promotion of governance and organizational development of AREU.
-Provide support for professionalizing the AREU Website and online business directory. This may include to:
-Create and implement Business Models on possible revenue streams for AREU.
-Facilitating the publishment of the AREU newsletter & E-magazine which encompasses coordinating with the AREU technical working group to gather and refine the data.
-Lead and capacitate a team of up to three (3) Staff on day-to-day business operations
-Put into practice the developed concepts on Management and Business Operations Systems (e.g., communication tracker, Minutes of meeting, media and membership database, MoU,etc.) and develop any other concept needed to facilitate the routine business of AREU(e.g., bookkeeping, contracting, record keeping, financial system, etc.).
-Implement and coordinate up to three (3) short-term Activities in line with the operational plan during tenure (may include: organize training events, compile awareness materials, conduct regional member recruitment tours, organize study tours, facilitate capacity building programs, etc.)
-Providing Monthly Report to AREU board members and keep them informed on activities and progress.
-Leading the technical working groups within the AREU (e.g. media, lobbying, capacity building, publication and awareness, networking, etc.)
-Develop business strategies and plans ensuring their alignment with short-term and long-term objectives of AREU one year operational plans.
-Proven ability to develop and achieve financial plan
-Work and collaborate with the AREU board members and executive management team to develop and implement operational policies and strategic plans to meet members’ needs.
-Provide leadership and management to ensure that the mission and core values of the union are put into practice.
-Create working groups to support specific Activities
Develop concepts on awareness-raising among AREU members, Potential member organizations, and facilitate the process.
-Manage and oversees the required advocacy interface between AREU and government, possibly act as the primary spokesperson for the union, identify problems & opportunities, and provide recommendations and advice for improvement.
-Maintain contact with important stakeholders of AREU (MEW, MRRD, DABS, Media, etc.)
-Identify media TV shows and introduce member organizations to identified TV shows.
-Enforce adherence to legal guidelines and in-house policies.
Facilitate the institutional capacity building of the AREU executive team and members
-Implement any other tasks assigned by the private sector steering group.

Job Requirements:
-Master’s Degree in Management, business management or a masters in business administration or any related field.
-Minimum 5 years of General Manager and progressive work experience within an INGO or Afghan NGO managing and development projects.
-Outstanding organizational and leadership skills.
-Good knowledge of different business functions.
-Strong leadership qualities.
-Excellent communication skills.
-Highly organized.
-Strong work ethic.
-Good interpersonal skills.
-Meticulous attention to detail.
-Computer literate.
-Proactive nature.
-Fluency in speaking, reading and writing in English-Dari and Pashto languages
